Privacy Policy

What we collect

We collect only what's necessary for the app to work:

• Your email address, used to create and manage your account.
• Your partner's couple pairing code, used to connect your two accounts.
• The button labels you create and the winks you send, stored to enable matching between you and your partner.
• Your device's push notification token, used to notify you when you and your partner match.
• Match history, including which buttons were matched and the timestamp of each match, used to display information within the app.
• AI-generated match suggestions, created by Anthropic when a match occurs and stored so both partners can view them.

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, contacts, or any other personal information beyond what is listed above.

How we use your information

Your information is used only to operate Couplewink. Specifically:

• Your email and account data are used to authenticate you and maintain your account.
• Your wink and button data are shared only with your paired partner and only for the purpose of detecting a mutual match.
• Your push notification token is used solely to deliver match notifications to your device.
• When a match occurs, a brief description of the matched activity is sent to Anthropic to generate a personalized suggestion. This description contains no account identifiers, email addresses, or personal information. It describes only the category of activity matched.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with any third party except as described above.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to your data is restricted by row-level security policies, meaning your data is only accessible to you and your paired partner.

Winks expire automatically and are deleted from our database after their active window closes. Match data, including matched button labels, timestamps, and AI-generated suggestions, persists until the couple unmatches or either partner deletes their account.

Partner data visibility

Couplewink shares limited data between paired partners to enable the app to function:

• Push notification tokens are shared between partners so that match notifications can be delivered to both devices.
• Premium subscription status is visible to both partners so that shared features can be unlocked for the pair.
• Wink selections are private. Your partner never sees which buttons you have tapped unless a mutual match occurs.
• When a match occurs, both partners see the matched button label and the AI-generated suggestion.

Third-party services

Couplewink uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase: database and authentication
• Anthropic: AI-generated match suggestions
• Expo / Firebase: push notification delivery
• RevenueCat: subscription and payment management. RevenueCat processes subscription transactions and may collect purchase history and device identifiers in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

Children's privacy

Couplewink is intended for adults in romantic relationships. The app is rated 17+ and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 17. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

User-generated content

Couplewink allows you to create custom wink button labels. These labels are visible only to you and your paired partner. We maintain a content moderation blocklist to prevent the use of prohibited content including hate speech, slurs, and other harmful language in button labels.

You are responsible for the content you create within the app. We reserve the right to remove content that violates our acceptable use standards.

Your rights and account deletion

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Permanently delete your account from within the app via the settings screen.
• Disconnect from your partner at any time, which removes the pairing and stops any further data sharing between accounts.

When you delete your account, all of your personal data is permanently removed, including your email, wink history, match data, AI-generated suggestions, custom button labels, and push notification tokens. Your paired partner is notified that the account has been deleted.

You can also request account deletion or a copy of your data by emailing openroadappsllc@gmail.com. For users in the European Union, we comply with GDPR requirements. For users in California, we comply with CCPA requirements. In all cases we aim to respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you via the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after that point constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
